ABOUT AMANDA

Health and fitness have always been part of Amanda's life and became a passion for her from a very young age. Her love and appreciation for massage and physical therapies started due to injuries from various sports and her ability to recover because of different manual therapies she received. Amanda's passion is to offer those services to others to aid in the recovery from injuries and to help promote overall health and wellness.

Amanda uses assessment skills and many manual therapy techniques including myofascial release, trigger point therapy and cupping to help assess, treat and prevent a variety of dysfunctions. Amanda's goal is to not only help her clients by assessing and addressing physical pain and dysfunction, but to also inspire a fundamental shift in how we perceive our own health. Ultimately, teaching clients the importance of ongoing self-care for long term health, well-being and stress management.

Amanda always offers home care programs that include stretching or strengthening to aid in the recovery process between treatments. She loves to work with clients to achieve their optimum health goals and hopes to educate her clients to appreciate the importance of self-care.

Amanda graduated from the Ontario College of Health & Technology and is registered and in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

When Amanda is not working with clients, she loves to spend time with her family hiking or exploring the great outdoors, reading, cooking and power lifting.

BENEFITS OF MASSAGE

WHY MASSAGE?

Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved; physical dysfunction, pain, and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented by Massage Therapy.

The therapeutic effects are achieved by using Swedish and modern massage techniques that have a proven track record of promoting healing and well-being over the hundreds of years that massage has been used.

BENEFITS OF MASSAGE

Massage therapy treatments provided by a Registered Massage Therapist can offer significant benefits for a variety of conditions and for diverse patient populations. Whether you need to have a moment of relaxation, reduce muscle tension or attain relief from chronic pain, massage therapy can enhance your overall well-being. Massage therapy can help alleviate musculoskeletal disorders associated with everyday stress, muscular overuse, physical manifestation of mental distress and many persistent pain syndromes.

Massage therapy can be an important part of your health maintenance plan by:

  • Reducing or eliminating pain

  • Improving joint mobility

  • Improving lymphatic drainage

  • Reducing muscular tension

Massage therapy can treat both acute and chronic conditions. RMT's work with a wide variety of patients in the treatment of illness, injury, rehabilitation and disability.

YOUR TREATMENT & FIRST APPOINTMENT

Therapeutic Treatments Are Personalized

Aromatherapy Oil

Before your first treatment, I will propose a personalized treatment plan based on an initial assessment and health history. This usually takes about 10 minutes and is done on the first appointment. The assessment will consist of various tests to determine the condition of your muscles and joints and will help determine where treatment is indicated.

The assessment is a critical part of the massage therapy treatment. It is conducted to establish where dysfunction resulting from mobility movement restrictions or general health concerns are and how I can promote healing to optimize your health and long term wellness goals.

It's important to remember that treatment will not start until you have given your consent to work on any part of your body, regardless of whether you are fully clothed, or partially covered with sheets or blankets. Your privacy will always be respected and you may withdraw your consent for treatment at any time, even during the treatment itself.

I will work with your level of pain tolerance during the treatment to make sure you are comfortable with the techniques, my pressure and location of the treatment on your body.

After the treatment, I will perform a quick reassessment in order to establish the results of the treatment and the efficacy of the techniques utilized.
